Hurricane and disaster relief
Big Dog Ranch Rescue travels to areas affected by disasters to bring much needed supplies, to save abandoned dogs, and in some cases reunite pet owners with their furry family members.
The Miracle Fund, inspired by Miracle, who survived for weeks on rainwater while buried under the rubble in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian before Big Dog Ranch Rescuers saved him, provides desperately needed funding for critical rescue missions, urgent medical dog rescue, and disaster relief.
Happy dogs arrive at Big Dog Ranch Rescue from China over 8,000 miles away and they are so excited to touch down! Purebred poodles, French and English bulldogs, golden retrievers, and Samoyeds are smelling the roses…and lapping up the sunshine… as they are greeted by over 40 smiling and loving volunteers and veterinary staff. Many already have homes and others available for adoption.
In mid-August of 2020, Big Dog Ranch Rescue received a heartbreaking call. Rescues in the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, and Vieques, were facing hard decisions. COVID and a very unpredictable hurricane season were presenting new challenges to their small but mighty rescue facilities…
In mid-September of 2020 a small team from Big Dog Ranch Rescue traveled to Puerto Rico to meet with one of the rescues on the island, Santuario Canita. It is run by a dedicated woman named Carmen and a small team of about five who work tirelessly for the dogs…
In June 2020, Big Dog Ranch Rescue hit the road to visit underserved and underfunded shelters in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. This is what happened…

We thank all the volunteers, the media, and the community all coming together to make this a successful mission! Thank you to all of our hard working staff, who are essential to all of the daily happenings at the Ranch. We love you and we thank you for the kindness, love and generosity that everyone has shown this rescue. We still need linens, tarps, generators and gas cans.
