Shelter Veterinarian Surgeon

Primary Responsibility is spay/neuter surgeries, C Sections, tumor removal, mammory mass removal, cherry eye surgery.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Coordinates and directs the medical operation of a non-profit dog rescue.

· Proficient in HIGH Volume/HIGH Quality spay /neuter surgeries.  Other surgery skills a must.

· Ability to thoroughly document and perform 20-30 physical exams per day.

· Perform pre-and post-operative examinations on all patients.

· Supervise and train veterinary surgical assistants.

· Provide regular review of medical and surgical protocols.

· Assists in the evaluation and establishment of disease control and medical protocols.

· Provides oversight supervision of veterinary technicians.

· Maintains appropriate licensing and completes required continuing education courses.

· Oversees the maintenance of drug and supply inventory while meeting and maintaining DEA requirements.

· Adheres to state and federal regulations as well as organizational protocol regarding animal care, treatment, advocacy, and the mission of the organization.

· Must be a collaborator with ability to collaborate with other Veterinarians.

· Work in conjunction with the CEO to ensure smooth operation of the clinic.

Requirements and Qualifications

· 5 or more years of experience in Veterinary Medicine.

· Must have or be able to obtain a license to practice Veterinary Medicine in the State of Florida.

· DEA License or ability to attain.

·USDA Category I certification.

· Possess good surgical skills and able to sustain a heavy surgical schedule.

· Able to work well under pressure and in a challenging environment.

· Experience with Shelter Luv or other shelter software.

· Willing to be on call for occasional emergencies such as C-Sections that must be performed as soon as possible.

· Committed to the mission of the organization and the goal of saving dogs.

Position Classification

· Veterinarian position is a full time, exempt position, supervised by the CEO.

· Salary $150,000-$175,000
